This shirt was created with the intent of giving proceeds to ALS TDI. The artwork is meant to be an interpretation of feeling trapped, as ALS is such a debilitating progressive neurodegenerative disease. Motor neurons slowly die, and the brain loses the ability to control and initiate muscle movement. I have had the privilege of meeting some amazing people living with ALS over the course of my life, with one in particular working to improve the housing situation. Steve Saling, diagnosed with ALS a while before we had met, is the co-founder of the ALS Residence Initiative, a specialized nursing center that helps facilitate the basic housing functions that we take for granted, like closing or opening the blinds.
At check-out, you can chose to have your money to to ALSRI, or to ALS TDI, the ALS Therapy Development Institute, a research group at the forefront of fighting for a cure.
